Overview

DawnChess is a chess training application. We respect your privacy and collect only what is necessary to provide the service.

Information We Collect

• Account information: Username, email address, and hashed password when you register directly, or name and email from your social login provider (Google, Facebook, or Apple).
• Chess data: Your Chess.com and Lichess usernames (provided by you), and game data fetched from those platforms to power training features.
• Usage data: Training progress, repertoire data, and drill collections you create within the app.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the chess training service.
• To authenticate your account and maintain your session.
• To send verification emails when you register.

Third-Party Services

• Chess.com & Lichess: We fetch your public game data from these platforms using the usernames you provide.
• Google, Facebook, Apple: If you use social login, we receive your name and email from the provider. We do not post to your social accounts.
• Resend: Used to deliver verification emails.
• Stripe: Processes subscription payments. We do not store your payment card details.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secured servers in the EU (Helsinki, Finland). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions use HTTP-only secure cookies.

Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us. We will process deletion requests promptly.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the application.
